Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Baseball (16-12, 8-4) hosted Methodist (12-16, 7-5) for a doubleheader on Saturday and took both games to win the series two games to one.
Game One:
The bats exploded for 22 runs in game one, as the Pride earned a 22-3 win in the first game of the day. Pitching was also on display for Greensboro, as
Isaiah Ralls earned the win by going 5.0 innings with 3 strikeouts.
Grayson Curtis pitched the final two frames and gave up no runs.
Jacob Severson led the team in hits with 4 along with 5 RBI.
Shane Garrett hit a grand slam in the sixth inning, his second of the season.
Evan Sykes also homered and drove in 3 runs. The offense totaled 13 hits and 20 RBI to go along with 12 walks.
Game Two:
In a tightly contested matchup in the final game of the series, the Pride came from behind to win 5-4. The Monarchs scored the first two runs before
Alex Vazquez tied the game on a two-RBI single in the fourth. After a two-run fifth for Methodist,
Trevor Testerman hit his third home run of the series to tie the game again.
In the eighth,
Brayden Sands came through with a sac-fly RBI for the eventual game-winning run.
Parker Broadus took the mound in the ninth and shut the door for his third save.Â
On the mound,
Isaiah Faudoa got the start and earned a no decision. He went 6.0 innings, giving up 9 hits and 4 runs with 8 strikeouts.
Austin Federspiel got the win out of the bullpen by pitching 2.0 innings with 2 strikeouts.
Notes:
- Testerman now has 11 home runs on the season, good for second place in all of NCAA Division III.
- The series win moves Greensboro into sole possession of second place in the conference standings.
