Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Baseball took on NC Wesleyan on Friday in their first game of the USA South Conference Tournament and earned an 11-5 victory.
Greensboro fell behind 2-0 early on, but the offense would get going in the third inning, when
Alex Vazquez knocked in the first run of the game. After a run in the fourth on a home run by
Christian Glaze, the bats exploded for four runs in the fifth and five in the sixth to break the game open.
Evan Sykes would have a big part in the eleven-run outburst, hitting three doubles and scoring twice. Glaze would total three hits while
Alex Vazquez had two hits and two RBI. Freshman
Tanner Jackson had a three-hit game, raising his season batting average to .455.
Isaiah Faudoa had a strong start on the mound, going seven innings. He gave up five runs, with two of those coming in the seventh inning. He had two strikeouts and walked just one batter.
Garrett Brust pitched the final two frames and didn't give up a run.
The win puts Greensboro win the winner's bracket with William Peace. The teams will play two games on Friday, with game one beginning at 1:00 pm.
