Greensboro, NC - As they have done multiple times this spring, baseball's
Trevor Testerman and softball's
Anna Frazier have again been named Greensboro College Pride Athletes of the Week.
Softball had a busy week, both playing and winning six games, and Frazier was instrumental in all of them. In two games against Carolina University, Frazier went 3-for-4 with a RBI and a run scored, plus three stolen bases. Then against Mary Baldwin on Wednesday, she combined to go 4-for-8 with five RBI (including a grand slam), three runs scored and two more steals. She finished the week against Salem going 3-for-5 with three more RBI and four runs scored, plus two additional swipes. All told, she batted .588 (10-for-17) with a home run, nine RBI, eight runs scored, and five stolen bases. Additionally, she pitched in two games, tossing 6.2 innings of one-run ball, striking out three.
Frazier has now hit safely in 13 of her last 14 games, raising her average to .352 in the process, to go with four homers and 19 runs batted in. In the circle, she leads the Pride with a 2.42 ERA and is tied for the team lead in victories (six).
Testerman has continued to distance himself from the rest of the USA South pack in his historic inaugural season for the Pride. The junior transfer had another big weekend on the road at Southern Virginia, going 7-for-15 (.466) with a home run, a triple, six RBI, five runs scored, and four stolen bases. After going just 2-for-9 through the first two games, Testerman exploded in the third game of the weekend, going 5-for-6 with a homer and five RBI.
On the year, Testerman leads the conference with a .483 average (fourth in Division III, sixth across all three NCAA levels), 16 home runs (tied for first in Division III), 61 RBI (third in Division III), and 22 stolen bases.
Softball finishes the year with road match-ups at Southern Virginia and William Peace, while baseball wraps up the regular season with four home games (a midweek against Guilford and a three-game set against Brevard). Both teams are locked into the USA South tournament.
