Greensboro, NC- Softball's Ella Ebert and baseball's Evan Sykes have been named this week's Greensboro College Pride Athletes of the Week.

Ebert, who has completely turned her season around from a difficult start, displayed her power at the plate, as the lefty slugged a pair of home runs last week. In going 3-for-11 (.273), Ebert blasted solo homers in back-to-back games against Southern Virginia, and William Peace, respectively. The senior also drove in four runs and scored four. For her solid work at the plate, it was her pair of games in the circle where Ebert shone brightest. Against SVU, Ebert went the distance, tossing seven shutout frames, allowing three hits and striking out a season-high nine batters. Then against the Paces, she delivered five more scoreless frames (giving her 12 shutout innings for the week), going the distance yet again in an 8-0 win. She is 5-2 on the year, lowering her career-best ERA to 2.71.

Softball begins play in the USA South tournament on Thursday at noon in a rematch with Southern Virginia.

Sykes put the finishing touches on a stellar regular season, combining to go 7-for-15 (.467), with three home runs, two triples, ten RBI and five runs scored. His second home run of the week was a fitting way for the career hits and home run king to reach 200 career hits, and his third of the week against Brevard broke a 9-9 tie and completed a comeback from a 9-1 deficit as the Pride would go on to win on Senior Day. As part of the 10 RBI week, Sykes also became the all-time leader in that category as well. He finished the regular season with a .423 RBI, 11 home runs and 42 RBI, setting career-bests in average and home runs, while making it three straight years of 40 or more RBI.

Baseball clinched the #1 seed in the USA South Tournament, and will begin hosting games Thursday, with their first opponent being the loser between William Peace and N.C. Wesleyan.
