Grottoes, VA - Greensboro College Baseball (17-13, 9-4) traveled to Mary Baldwin (6-22, 4-9) for game one of a three game series on Saturday and earned a 16-6 run-rule win.
Alex Vazquez helped lead the way with a 2 homer, 5 RBI day.
After each team scored once in the first, Greensboro scored the next 4 runs to take a 5-1 lead, which included a Vazquez two-run shot. They continued to hit the Fighting Squirrels' pitching staff hard, scoring 2 runs in the fourth and 5 in the fifth to take a 12-3 lead.
Four more runs came across in the sixth as the onslaught was on. The bullpen would close out the game in the seventh to secure the team's 17th win of the season.
The offense totaled 12 hits and 4 homers. Vazquez,
Evan Sykes, and
Jacob Severson all went yard while
Trevor Testerman hit a triple.
Carson Herod and
Tyler Alverio each added doubles.
Isaiah Faudoa got the win on the mound, going 5.2 innings.
Grayson Curtis finished the game, throwing 1.1 innings with a strikeout.
