GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Greensboro College Men's Lacrosse team (9-2, 3-1) put together a dominant wire-to-wire performance Saturday afternoon, defeating Huntingdon College (4-7, 1-3) 18–6 in a USA South matchup at Pride Field.
Greensboro opened the contest with six unanswered goals in the first quarter and never looked back, controlling possession, winning the faceoff battle, and capitalizing on timely scoring throughout the afternoon.
The Pride jumped out quickly as Justin Barry scored just 59 seconds into the game, beginning a first-quarter offensive surge. Greensboro added five more goals in the opening frame, highlighted by a pair from Will Pailthorpe and two from Chas Gilroy, to give the Pride a commanding 6–0 lead after one quarter.
The second quarter saw Greensboro continue to dictate play, scoring seven times while holding Huntingdon to a single goal. Barry, Alex Mattoon, and Nathan Foncilus all found the back of the net during the stretch, while Seth Woods added a rare man-down goal to help Greensboro take a 13–1 advantage into halftime.
Greensboro scored two third quarter goals from Woods and another from Barry, maintaining control 15–5 heading into the final quarter.
The Pride closed out the contest with three more goals in the fourth, including back-to-back tallies from Barry late in the period. Greensboro also received solid minutes in goal, as Braeden Mitchell recorded 15 saves in just over 50 minutes of action before Hayden Hansen finished the game with one save.
Barry led all scorers with seven goals and two assists, while Woods added two goals and two assists. Mattoon and Chas Gilroy each scored twice, as Greensboro finished with 18 goals from eight different players. At the faceoff X, Quinton Solomon controlled the game, helping the Pride to a 17–11 edge in faceoff wins.
Greensboro out-shot Huntingdon 51–34 and collected 35 ground balls as a team, continuing its strong conference play momentum.
