Mitchell Totals 19 Saves in Men's Lacrosse's Win Over Marymount

Greensboro, NC - It was a perfect day for lacrosse on Sunday afternoon as the Greensboro College Men's Lacrosse team (5-1) hosted Marymount University (2-3) and won by the final score of 11-9.

It was big day for junior goalie Braeden Mitchell, as he totaled 19 saves to help lead the Pride to victory. 

It was a low scoring first half, as Greensboro led 2-1 after the first quarter, and then tied 4-4 at the half. Alex Mattoon scored the first Pride goal, followed later by Chas Gilory and Justin Barry. Barry would later score the fourth goal of the half for Greensboro.

Greensboro came out firing in the second half, scoring the first 3 goals of the third period. However, the Saints would come back with 2 goal of their own to trim the Pride lead to 7-6. 

Early in the fourth, Marymount tied the game 8-8 as they gained momentum. It was 6:00 later that the next goal was scored, and it was from senior DiMaggio Wilson, giving Greensboro a 9-8 advantage. Seth Woods then scored to make it 10-8, and later scored the final goal of the game to make the score 11-9 with 1:34 remaining.

Barry would score a team high 4 goals with 3 assists. Mattoon scored 3 goals while Woods had 2. Will Pailthorpe and Jon Banser had 2 caused turnovers each.

Notes:
- Greensboro earned the win despite being defeated 20-4 on face-offs.
- The Saints out-shot Greensboro 43-29.
- Mitchell is second in the USA South in goals allowed average at 7.05.
- Barry passes Davis Miller for 5th all-time in program history in goals scored, and is now tied with Shawn Callahan for 4th. 

Up Next:
Greensboro will travel to Maryland on Saturday to play McDaniel College at 5:00 pm.
