Buena Vista, VA - Greensboro College Women's Basketball (6-12. 3-8) hit the hardwood on Tuesday after an extended break due to weather, traveling to play conference foe Southern Virginia (14-5, 12-0). The Pride would fall 87-52 despite a strong 14-point performance from freshman
Jayda Hairston.
Hariston shot 50% from the floor on the night and 3-5 from long range. Despite her performance, the Pride couldn't contain the high powered Knights in this one.
Greensboro found themselves down 11 after the first quarter, and then the Knights outscored the Pride 20-12 in the second. The third period is where Southern Virginia really extended their lead, scoring 22 points and taking a 68-37 lead into the fourth.
Unfortunately the Pride were not able to mount any sort of fourth quarter comeback as the Knights remain undefeated in conference play.
Jenx Ervin scored 13 points with 7 rebounds, while
Kensly Stewart scored 10 points with 3 steals.
Notes:
- Ervin's 13 points is a career high.
- Greensboro shot 26% from the floor and just 47% from the free throw line.
