Asheboro, NC - Greensboro College Baseball (5-1) defeated Averett (2-3)Â in a back-and-forth affair on Sunday to improve to 5-1 on the season.
Greensboro jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to back-to-back home runs from
Carson Herod and
Brayden Sands. Averett took the lead 8-4 in the 4th inning after a 6-run inning.
Greensboro would respond with a big inning of their own, thanks to doubles from
Jacob Severson and
Trevor Testerman.
Alex Vazquez would cap off the inning with a 2-run homerun to give Greensboro an 11-9 lead.
Greensboro would retain the lead the rest of the game before eventually winning 13-11.
Austin Federspiel got the start on the mound for Greensboro.
Matthew Nelson,
Jason Kithcart Jr, and
Garrett Brust would come out of the pen with Nelson getting the win after his 3 innings in relief.
Trevor Testerman finished the day with 3 hits and 3 RBI's.
Brayden Sands,
Carson Herod, and
Alex Vazquez would each record 2 hits and a home run.Â
