Asheboro, NC - Greensboro College Baseball (1-0) hosted Washington & Lee (0-1) on Friday afternoon for Opening Day at McCrary Park. The Pride earned an 8-4 victory behind a strong 6.0 innings from
Michael Richards and 3 home runs by the offense.
Mike Rinaldi got the scoring started with a solo blast to left field in the first inning. The Generals scored the next 2 runs, but
Christian Glaze and Trevor Testerrman each hit solo homers for their first hits as members of the team to give Greensboro a 3-2 lead.
After the Generals took another lead, this time 4-3,
Alex Vazquez hit a 2-run double to put the Pride back ahead in the sixth. Three more insurance runs came home in the bottom of the eighth inning, and
Matthew Nelson slammed the door on the Generals' offense to secure the win.
Richards earned the win and is now tied for seventh all-time in program history. Nelson earned his first career save.Â

- Vazquez went 2-3 with 2 RBI in his first game since an injury last season.
