Greensboro, NC - Greensboro College Women's Basketball (9-12, 6-8) pulled off a USA South upset victory over NC Wesleyan (12-9, 10-5) on Wednesday night, 55-51.
It was a low scoring affair, as both teams shot under 30% from the floor. After the Bishops took an 11-9 lead after the first quarter, Greensboro took over the game. They outscored NC Weselyan 22-14 in the second and 12-8 in the third.
The Bishops would cut the score to 52-51 with 2:27 remaining, but Greensboro finished the game on a 3-0 run to close out a key conference victory.
Kensly Stewart scored a game high 12 points while also coming up with 7 steals.
Jenx Ervin was a rebounding machine, grabbing a career high 17 boards.
Taya Simpkins scored 9 points with 3 rebounds.
Notes:
- Stewart is now 10th all-time in a single season for steals (80).
- Ervin's 15-rebound game is the first for the team since 2023.
- The Bishops didn't make a field goal for the first 6:50 to start the second half.
- Greensboro won the turnover battle, as NC Wesleyan turned it over 32 times to 18 for the Pride.
