Asheville, NC - Greensboro College Women's Basketball (3-8, 0-4) picked up a road win on Thursday night as they took down Warren Wilson (1-15) 87-83 on Thursday night. The Pride got big performances from
Ary Ingram and
Kamdyn Lakey to help lead them to victory.
Warren Wilson got out to an early 24-18 lead after the first quarter. The Owls shot 10-17 from the floor in the period. However, Greensboro flipped the script in the second quarter, out-scoring Warren Wilson 22-15 to take a 40-39 lead going into the half.
The Owls offense caught fire in the third quarter, scoring 30 points. Greensboro didn't let the Owls get away though, scoring 22 points of their own on 7-13 shooting from the floor. The Pride defense rose to the occasion in the fourth quarter, holding the Owls to just 14 fourth quarter points. Greensboro out-scored Warren Wilson 25-14 in the final period to earn a comeback victory.
With 2:34 to play, the Pride found themselves down 77-76, but finished the game on an 11-6 run.
Ary Ingram and
Kamdyn Lakey came through with career nights for Greensboro, as Ingram scored 16 points with 9 rebounds while Lakey scored 14 points and had 5 steals.
Kensly Stewart scored 11 points, while
Taya Simpkins and
Tatum Bradford had 10 points each.
Notes:
- Greensboro avenged their 99-92 loss to the Owls on December 18.
- The Pride bench scored 52 points on the night compared to the Owls' 11 bench points.
- Warren Wilson totaled 33 turnovers, with Greensboro scoring 29 points off those turnovers.
- The teams combined for 11 lead changes throughout the game.
