Kensly Stewart had a 21-point outing to lead Greensboro College Women's Basketball (6-11, 3-7) to a road conference win over Mary Baldwin (3-15, 2-10) by a 69-63 score on Wednesday night.
Stewart had a solid shooting night, going 9-18 from the floor to go along with 3 assists and 2 rebounds. Stewart and fellow freshman,
Jayda Hairston, scored in double figures for the Pride in the win.Â
The Fighting Squirrels jumped out to a 20-17 advantage after one quarter. They hit 4 three-pointers in the first 10:00. Fortunately for Greensboro, that hot shooting went quiet in the second quarter, as MBU shot just 4-20 from the floor.
The Pride led 29-28 at the half after outscoring the Fighting Squirrels 12-8 in the second. They then went on a 20-14 run in the third to extend their lead. With 5:39 to play, Greensboro led by 17 points. The Fighting Squirrels wouldn't go away easy though, as with 46 seconds left, they trimmed the score to 68-63.
The Pride would prevail as they prevented the MBU comeback attempt. With the win, Greensboro sweeps the season series with the Fighting Squirrels.Â
Jayda Hairston scored 11 points for the Pride along with 5 rebounds.
Kamdyn Lakey came through with 9 points on 3 three-pointers.
Jenx Ervin led the team in rebounds with 9.

- Greensboro has now won two games in a row and is 3-7 in the USA South this season.
- The team hit 10 three-pointers on the night, led by Lakey's 3.
- Despite the win, the Pride shot just 9-21 from the free throw line.
- Greensboro's bench outscored Mary Baldwin's 34-8.
