Fayetteville, NC - The Greensboro College Women's Basketball team (4-10, 1-6) lost a heartbreaker to Methodist (6-10, 5-4) on Saturday by the score of 80-76.
Tatum Bradford led the Pride in scoring with 23 points, a new career high.
Greensboro started strong, getting out to a 21-15 lead after the first period. The team shot 6-17 from the floor in the quarter and held the Monarchs to just 24% shooting. It was a higher scoring second period, as Greensboro shot 45% from the floor and outscored Methodist 23-20 to take a 44-35 lead at the half.
The Monarchs cut the lead to 8 points after the third, but the Pride still maintained control. They extended the lead to 10 points with 7:06 to go. However, the offense went cold and the Monarchs would storm back to take a 76-75 lead with 2:47 to play.
With the game tied 76-76 with 11 seconds left, Methodist scored an and one, and would take the lead 79-76. With one last possession, Greensboro turned the ball over and the Monarchs would close the game out with another free throw and earn a 80-76 win.
Along with her 23 points, Bradford also had 7 rebounds.
Kensly Stewart had 17 points and 2 steals.Â
Notes:
- Greensboro shot just 3-15 from the floor and 3-10 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter.
- Both teams had 30 turnovers in the game, with Greensboro having 31 and Methodist totaling 30.
- The Pride have dropped their last five contests against Methodist.
