Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro Women's Soccer team (4-3-2, 0-1) hosted Brevard College (7-0, 2-0) in their USA South Conference opener on Tuesday and fell by a score of 5-1.
Brevard dominated the first half, scoring all 5 of their goals in the first 45 minutes. The Tornados got on the scoreboard less than 2 minutes into game on a goal by Schuyler Pettibone. They scored again just 4 minutes later to put Greensboro down 2-0 early.
Brevard took a commanding 3-0 lead in the 23rd minute, followed by goals in the 31st and 41st minutes. The Tornados totaled 20 shots on the night with 14 on goal.Â
Greensboro got their lone goal on a penalty kick from
Claire Friedlander in the 65th minute. The goal was Friedlander's 2nd of the season.Â
The Pride had opportunities on offense, as they totaled 11 shots with 5 on goal. Friedlander and
Camryn Marcondes had 2 shots each. In goal,
Shyann Hansen got the start and made 6 saves, while fellow freshman
Griffin Horn made her season debut and had 3 saves.
Greensboro will travel to Pfeiffer for their next match on Saturday, with kickoff set for 2:00 pm.
