Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Baseball took on Southern Virginia in game one of a three game series on Saturday and took down the Knights, 15-9.
Greensboro would get out to a 10-0 lead after the fourth inning as it seemed as if the Pride would cruise to a victory. However, Southern Virginia would score eight runs in the fifth inning to make the score 10-8.
Hunter Anderson came in from the bullpen and pitched a key 2.1 innings, shutting down the Knights offense after their big inning. The Greensboro offense got rolling again in the seventh, scoring four runs to extend their lead again.
The Pride bullpen continued their strong pitching as
Nick Neubauer slammed the door in the final two innings to secure the win.Â
On the offensive side, the Pride hit a new season high in hits with 21.
Mike Rinaldi had a four-hit game with two doubles and two RBI.
Dominic Scavone had two triples on the day, totaling three hits. Catcher
Michael Schroer had three hits as well, while also knocking in three runs.
Jake Duffy had four RBI out of the ninth spot in the order, collecting two hits.Â
The Pride will play games two and three on Saturday, as they host senior day at Ted Leonard Park. Game one begins at 1:00 pm.
