Fayetteville, NC - Greensboro baseball took on Methodist for games two and three of their weekend series and split a doubleheader with the Monarchs on Sunday.
Game One: Methodist 6, Greensboro 5
The Pride made a fierce comeback in the ninth inning in game one but couldn't complete the comeback and fell 6-5. Methodist got out to a 5-0 lead after the sixth inning as the Pride offense couldn't figure out Monarchs' starter Kyle Molivas.Â
However, once Molivas left the game after seven innings, the Pride hit the Methodist bullpen hard, as they scored four runs in the ninth inning. The inning included a pinch-hit three-run home run by Jacob Caseres for his first career collegiate home run.
Despite the loss, the Pride got solid performances from
Evan Sykes, who went 2-4, and
Kai Hayen, who went 1-2 with a double.
Ian Bast got the start on the mound and went 4.2 innings, giving up three hits and three runs.

The Pride offense exploded for sixteen runs in game two to salvage the final game of the series.
Michael Richards turned in another strong start for Greensboro on the mound, going five innings while giving up nine hits and three runs to earn his fourth win of the season.
After two runs in the first inning, the offense scored seven runs in the second to build a 9-2 lead.
Rush Bowman hit a grand slam as part of the seven run inning, while
Brody Gardner hit his second home run of the game after homering in the first inning.
After three more runs scored in the fourth inning, Greensboro held a 12-3 advantage. Four more runs would score for Greensboro the rest of the way as they secured their thirteenth win of the season.Â
Brody Gardner totaled a career high seven RBI to go along with his two home runs. He had five hits, which is also a career high.
