Lynchburg, VA - Greensboro softball took on Lynchburg on Sunday and split a doubleheader with the Hornets. Game one went Lynchburg's way, 10-2 while game two went to Greensboro, 6-5.
Game One: Lynchburg 10, Greensboro 2
Game one saw the Hornets pull away late to run-rule the Pride, 10-2. Lynchburg got out to a 3-0 lead before Greensboro got two runs back in the third inning on a
Katherine Connell RBI hit and an
Olivia Hyatt RBI bases loaded walk,
Lynchburg scored one run in the fourth, and then put up a five spot in the fifth to take home the win. For the Pride, Connell had a big day at the plate, going 3-3 with an RBI, while the team totaled eight hits for the game.
Ella Ebert started in the circle for Greensboro and went one inning, while
Raina Hampel pitched three innings out of the bullpen.
Madison Guard also pitched two-thirds of an inning.
Game Two: Greensboro 6, Lynchburg 5
Greensboro bounced back and won game two to finish their weekend road trip 3-1. After the Hornets got the first run of the game in the first inning, the Pride scored four runs in the third frame to go up 4-1.
Anna Frazier knocked in two runs with a double followed by an
Ivy Ray RBI double and an
Olivia Hyatt sac fly.
In the fourth, junior
Raven Taylor hit her first career collegiate home run with a two-run shot to give the Pride a 6-2 advantage. Lynchburg came back, however, and scored three runs in the sixth inning to cut the Greensboro lead to just one.
Ella Ebert came out of the bullpen to shut the door in the sixth inning with the tying run on base and finished the game in the circle to earn the save.
Anna Frazier got the win, her third of the season.
At the plate, Frazier went 2-4 with two RBI while
Katherine Connell,
Abbey Drake, and Taylor all had two hits each. The team totaled thirteen hits and just four strikeouts.Â
The Pride will come home this week as they host Ferrum on Thursday at Barber Park. Game one begins at 2:00 pm followed by game two at 4:00 pm.
