Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro women's basketball team hosted Methodist on Friday night in what was a low scoring affair that saw Methodist squeak out a 45-36 victory over the Pride.
Both offenses struggled against each other's defenses all night. The Monarchs had an 11-8 lead after one quarter of play. After the second quarter, Methodist took a 22-17 lead into the halftime break.
Greensboro then had a strong third quarter, outscoring the Monarchs 13-7, and took their first lead with 5:22 left in the third period. The Pride would take a 30-29 lead into the fourth, looking to upset the 11-8 Monarchs.
Methodist would begin to put pressure on the Pride offense with a full court press in the fourth quarter, and that would eventually lead to Methodist reclaiming the lead. The Monarchs outscored Greensboro 16-6 in the final period and were able to pull away late to secure the win.
Meah Brooks led the Pride with 13 points while also collecting 6 rebounds.
Nataya Atwater had 9 points, while
Nakiyah Kelly had 11 rebounds.Â
The Pride will travel to Methodist on Saturday at 4:30 looking to avenge their Friday night loss to the Monarchs.
