High Point, NC - The Greensboro baseball team completed a sweep of Lycoming College on Sunday 14-9 behind
Isaiah Faudoa's strong start on the mound and an offensive explosion of 14 runs.
Faudoa made his first start as a member of the Pride and went 6.0 innings while giving up just 2 hits and striking out 9. He gave up just 1 earned run.Â
Greensboro got the scoring going early with 7 runs in the first two innings. A 4-run first and a 3-run second gave Faudoa a big lead to pitch with early on. They would score 5 more runs in the 6th inning to go up 12-1.
Lycoming battled back, however, and scored 7 runs of their own in the 7th and 8th innings. Greensboro added 2 more insurance runs in the bottom of the 8th to go ahead 14-8. Lycoming would get 1 more run in the 9th, but
Stephen Dunlow finished the game off on the mound to secure the sweep.
At the plate,
Evan Sykes and
Alex Vazquez each homered while Sykes added a double to finish 2-3 with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.
Brody Gardner,
Mike Rinaldi,
Kai Hayen, and
Dominic Scavone all had 2 hits each. Hayen totaled 3 RBI while Rinaldi and Scavone had 2 RBI each.
Greensboro is scheduled to play again against Hampden-Sydney on Tuesday at Ted Leonard Park. First pitch is set for 4:00 pm.
