Lexington, VA - Defending 141lb National Champion
Josh Wilson has once again earned an ODAC Championship in the 141lb weight class. Wilson, in his final season, earned his third ODAC title on Saturday after going 3-0 on the day.
Wilson defeated Richie Kulessa from SVU in the first round by Fall. In the semifinal round, he beat Mauricio Reyes via Tech Fall 19-4. The championship round put Wilson up against longtime rival Mark Samuel from Roanoke College, and Wilson defeated Samuel by Decision 6-2 to claim the 141lb championship. Wilson will now look to defend his NCAA Regional title in two weeks in Danville, VA.
Wilson's 2025 ODAC crown adds to his already illustrious Pride career that includes a 2024 National Championship, three ODAC titles, two Southeast Regional Titles and MOW's, and being a 2023 Academic All-American.Â
Newcomer
Adrian Soto-Perez earned a third place finish in his first ODAC tournament in the 174lb class. He took the third place match over Tyson Hoopes of SVU by Major Decision.
Isaiah Manning also came home in third place in the 197lb weight class.
Senior heavyweight wrestler
Jacob Barlow placed third in his one and only ODAC championships. Barlow defeated Rives Hargis, whom he defeated in his last dual match on February 8th, by Fall. Other finishes for the Pride included
Luke Gregory (4th place, 184 lbs), and
CJ Watson (5th place, 125 lbs).
The Pride will now get ready for the NCAA Regionals on the campus of Averett University February 27th-28th.
