Montgomery, AL - The Greensboro softball season got off to a historic start on Saturday, as
Anna Frazier and
Raina Hampel combined to throw a no-hitter against Centre College in a 3-0 victory.
In just her third start in the circle in a Pride uniform, Frazier struck out 6 Centre hitters in a dominant opening day start. Hampel was credited with her third career save, going 1.0 inning and striking out 1Â batter.Â
Greensboro got on the board first in the third inning when
Raven Taylor hit a sac fly to drive in
Alexis Lynch. Later in the inning,
Ivy Ray scored the second run of the game to make it 2-0. In the sixth,
Katherine Connell added an insurance run on a sac fly that drove home Kylie Nerrel.
That's all that the pitching staff would need, as Frazier and Hampel handled the Centre lineup and secured the first win of 2025.Â
In their second game of the day against Huntingdon, the Pride fell 10-4 thanks to a 3-run third inning and a 4-run fourth for the Hawks.
Ella Ebert got her first start in the circle and went 2.2 innings with 6 walks and 1 strikeout.
Madison Guard made her 2025 debut out of the bullpen, going 2.0 innings.
Greensboro combined for 7 hits on offense while scoring 4 runs.
Ivy Ray had a 2-4 game at the plate while Frazier,
Sydney Harris,
Jordyn Tong,
Alexis Lynch, and Ebert all had 1 hit. Errors hurt the Pride in this one, as they had 4 of them on the game.Â
Greensboro will play Huntingdon and Centre again on Sunday, with the first game against Centre beginning at 11:00 am CST.
