Montgomery, AL - Greensboro softball finished their weekend in Montgomery, Alabama on the campus of Huntingdon College on Sunday and went 1-1 on the day.
Against Centre, the Pride defeated Colonels 8-4. The offense scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning, which included an
Olivia Hyatt RBI single, a Jodyn Tong RBI single, an RBI double by
Katherine Connell, and a 2-RBI double by
Ella Ebert.Â
The Pride scored 1 run in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to pull away. Centre's offense scored 3 of their runs in the bottom of the 7th, but Greensboro would hold on for the win.
Madison Guard pitched in the circle for the Pride and went all 7 innings, earning her first career win. She struck out 3 and gave up 4 earned runs.Â
At the plate, the Pride had 5 doubles and 4 stolen bases. They totaled 11 hits with 1 walk.
Olivia Hyatt went 2-4 with 3 RBI while
Sydney Harris went 2-4 with an RBI. Freshman Kylie Nerrell went 1-2 with 2 runs scored.
Against Huntingdon, the Pride struggled defensively with 5 errors.
Anna Frazier got the start in the circle, while
Raina Hampel and
Jordyn Tong came in the game out of the bullpen.
Offensively Greensboro totaled just 3 hits.
Ella Ebert went 1-1 with a double and a stolen base.Â
The Pride will travel to Salem, VA next weekend and will play two games against The College of New Jersey on Saturday. Game one begins at 11:00 am.
