Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro men's lacrosse team hosted their second home game in a row on Saturday to open the 2025 season, as they defeated Oglethorpe 16-1 to earn their first win of the year.
It was a runaway from the start, as the Pride scored 7 first quarter goals. They would score 3 more in the second, 4 in the third, and 2 in the fourth to cap off a dominating win.
Justin Barry scored 4 goals in this one, just one goal shy of his career high in a game. Barry also had 6 assists, which totaled 10 points on the day. Barry collected 3 ground balls to go along with his outstanding offensive performance.
Chas Gilroy and freshman
Ben Little scored 3 goals each. Gilroy now has 5 goals in the first two games of the season. He also had 3 assists and 3 ground balls. Transfer senior
DiMaggio Wilson made his presence known with 2 goals on the afternoon and 1 assist.
Alex Speckin came through with 2 goals of his own, while
Connor Ferreria and
Malcom Owens scored their first career collegiate goals.Â
Defensively,
Romeo Espinosa-Ponce had 3 caused turnovers and
Colin Byrne had 2. In goal,
Hayden Hansen got the win and had 1 save, while Nathan Fox came in the game in the second half and had 5 saves.
Next up for Greensboro is another home game, this time against SUNY-Delhi, on February 23rd at 2:00 pm.
