High Point, NC - Greensboro baseball opened up their 2025 season with a doubleheader sweep of Lycoming College on Friday in High Point. The team combined to score 24 runs in the two games.
Game One: Greensboro 11 Lycoming 1
Ian Bast got the start on the mound in game one and threw 5.0 innings of 2 hit ball. Bast had 8 strikeouts, which is a new career high. The bats broke out in the second inning with 5 runs, highlighted by a
Dominic Scavone two-run homer to left field for his first home run in a Pride uniform.
In the 3rd,
Alex Vazquez singled home two more runs to extend the lead to 7-0.
Mike Rinaldi extended the lead to 9-0 with a two-RBI double to right field in the 6th inning, and
Evan Sykes drove in the final two runs, one in the 6th and one in the 8th.Â
Trey Wilson and
Nick Neubauer made their Greensboro debut's out of the bullpen combining for 4.0 innings and allowing just 1 run. Bast, Wilson, and Neubauer combined for 12 strikeouts on the game. At the plate,
Chris Le went 2-4 while
Mike Rinaldi went 2-5 with 2 RBI and 2 runs scored.
Evan Sykes had a 4 hit game with 2 RBI, while
Alex Vazquez and
Kai Hayen had 2 hits each.
Game Two: Greensboro 13 Lycoming 4
The bats exploded for 13 more runs in game two. The offense totaled 17 hits, with four different players collecting 3 hits each.
Chris Le,
Louis Berini,
Dominic Scavone, and
Michael Schroer all had 3 hits in this one, and the four combined for 7 RBI.Â
Michael Richards got the start on the mound and threw 6.0 innings, giving up just 1 hit and striking out 4.
Hunter Anderson,
Garrett Brust, and
Stephen Dunlow came out of the bullpen for the final 3 innings. Dunlow struck out the side in his first appearance of the season in the 9th inning to finish the game.
At the plate, Scavone totaled 4 RBI on 3 hits and 1 walk.
Mike Rinaldi went 2-4 with 2 runs scored, and
Cameron Barefoot went 1-1 with 2 runs scored.Â
