Raleigh, NC - Greensboro women's basketball traveled to Raleigh on Wednesday to take on Meredith College and fell in a close contest, 43-41.
Greensboro battled hard all game long but a strong fourth quarter and two late free throws by the Avenging Angels earned them a come from behind win.
The Pride led 10-7 after the first quarter, while Meredith took the lead after the second quarter 18-17. Greensboro then took the lead back after the third quarter and looked to play spoiler on the road.
The game was tied 41-41 with 45 seconds left when the Angels hit a free throw to go up by one. They then hit another free throw with 10 seconds left to go up by two. The Pride got a three point shot off by
Taya Phelps with one second remaining, but the shot fell short as Meredith secured their seventh win of the season.
Azuria Barrino led Greensboro with 11 points.
Taya Simpkins and
Nataya Atwater each scored 9 points, while
Nakiyah Kelly had 14 rebounds.
The Pride will host senior day this Saturday at 2:00 pm as they host William Peace.
