Women's Basketball Honors Seniors, Cap Off Celebration With Win

Box Score Greensboro, NC - Three players reached double figures and the Greensboro Pride dominated on the boards en route to a 70-55 home victory over William Peace on Senior Day.

On a day where the Pride honored seniors Nataya Atwater and Azuria Barrino (who would both go on to have a big afternoon), it was freshman Meah Brooks who paced the Pride with 20 points. Brooks also notched her second career double-double by bringing down 11 boards.

Atwater and Barrino were both big factors into Greensboro's success as well. Atwater delivered 16 points, 5 boards, and 5 assists, while Barrino also secured a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Two others also reached double figures in rebounds; Nakiyah Kelly had 14 and Taya Simpkins added 11 for the Pride, who out-rebounded the Pacers 55-41.

Greensboro led 17-12 after the first quarter, and held a three point lead at halftime. But in the second half, the Pride stretched out their lead, outscoring William Peace 44-32 after the break. The Pride shot 42% from the floor while holding the Pacers to just 26%.

The Pride conclude their home slate on Tuesday against Southern Virginia before their 2024-25 season comes to a close next Saturday at Salem.
