Charlotte, NC - Greensboro College Men's Basketball (4-7) took on Johnson & Wales (1-11) as part of the Jay Bilas Classic on Saturday night and earned a 95-94 win in overtime.
The Wildcats started out strong, taking a 25-15 lead in the first half. Greensboro then got hot, as they scored 25 points the next 12 minutes and took a 40-38 lead going into the half.
JWU started the second half strong, taking a slim lead but maintaining it throughout the half. With 1:50 to play, the Wildcats found themselves up 80-75, but
Nygie Stroman would score 5 straight points to tie the game and eventually send the teams to overtime.
Again the Wildcats got out to the lead, but Greensboro didn't break, and took a 91-90 lead with 42 seconds to play. Later, the Wildcats took a 94-93 lead with 22 seconds left, but Greensboro scored after a missed three-pointer from Stroman and
Ryan Roberts grabbed the offensive rebound and scored the game-winner with just 10 seconds remaining to give Greensboro their 4th win of the season.
Stroman led all scorers with 29 points while dishing out 5 assists.
Will Gray scored 19 points with 8 rebounds, while
Jeremiah Howard had 13 points and 7 rebounds.Â
The Pride will play an exhibition game at Division I Elon on Monday at 4:00 pm.
