Greensboro, NC - It was a high scoring affair on Thursday inside Hanes Gym as Greensboro College Women's Basketball (2-7) fell 99-92 to Warren Wilson (1-13).
Greensboro came out shooting well, scoring the first 5 points. They hit 4 three-point shots in the first quarter and 10 shots total from the field. Warren Wilson shot even better, going 13-20 from the floor in the period and the teams were tied 28-28 after the first quarter.
The offense slowed down slightly in the second quarter, but Greensboro out-scored the Owls 22-21 and led 50-49 at the half. Greensboro hit 4 more three-pointers in the period but shot just 8-29 from the floor.
Greensboro again out-scored the Owls in the third quarter, this time 24-22. Midway through the fourth quarter was where Warren Wilson took over. After taking the lead with 6:37 to play, the Owls finished the game on a 15-10 run.
Ori Galloway led all scorers with 29 points for Warren Wilson.
Jayda Hairston scored 18 to lead Greensboro, while Kinsly Stewart had 16.
Carrie Carr earned a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Jenx Ervin also had a 12 rebound performance.Â
Greensboro will play again on January 6th when they travel to NC Wesleyan for a 4:00 pm tip-off.
