Kensly Stewart led Greensboro with 23 points.
The game was tight through the first two quarters. The Marlins held a 21-17 lead after the first period, and Greensboro out-scored Virginia Wesleyan 30-23 in the second to take a 47-44 lead at the half.
Greensboro got off to a slow start in the third quarter, and the Marlins would put up 32 points in the period and take a 76-70 advantage to the fourth. The Marlins continued their strong scoring output by putting up 32 more points in the final quarter to pull away.
For Greensboro, Stewart's 23 points went along with 5 steals and 4 rebounds in a strong collegiate debut. Another freshman,
Tatum Bradford, scored 12 points and had 5 rebounds.
Kamdyn Lakey also scored in double figures with 10 points. Transfer
Jenx Ervin had a strong team debut with 6 points and 6 rebounds.
Greensboro will hit the court again on Tuesday when they travel to Averett for a 7:00 pm tip-off.
