Tatum Bradford had a 20 point night to lift women's basketball to a 77-76 road win over Averett on Tuesday.
Greensboro started off strong with a 16 point first period that saw them lead 16-12 after the quarter. They went on a big 24-10 run in the second quarter that increased their lead to a 36-26 advantage by halftime.
Both teams turned up the offense in the third, as the Pride scored 26 points while Averett scored 25. Greensboro took an 11 point cushion into the fourth quarter, but the Cougars would make one last push to steal this one away from the Pride.
With 6:57 to play, Greensboro had a 15 point advantage, but Averett would go on a 14-1 run to cut the deficit to just 2 points with 3:03 to play. Key baskets by

Kensly Stewart gave Greensboro 4 much needed points, and then a layup by
Taya Simpkins with 52 seconds to play gave the Pride a 4 point lead.
The Cougars cut the lead to 1 with 36 seconds left, and had one last possession to try and win the game. However, the Pride defense made a key stop with just seconds to go and sealed their first win of the season.
Kensly Stewart would score 14 points while grabbing 14 rebounds. Simpkins scored 9 points with 4 rebounds, while Effler totaled 7 points.
Greensboro will play in their home opener this Sunday when they host Mid-Atlantic Christian at 2:00 pm.
