Football Taken Down by Brevard

Greensboro, NC - It was beautiful homecoming Saturday night at Pride Field as Greensboro College Football hosted Brevard College for their first night game in Pride Field history on Saturday.

Unfortunately for Greensboro, the Tornados were too tough to handle as the Pride fell, 34-7. Greensboro got on the scoreboard first when freshman quarterback Cameron Turner threw his first career touchdown pass to Jayden Morrison to give the Pride a 7-0 lead.

Brevard would march down the field on the ensuing drive but miss the extra point, and Greensboro held onto a 7-6 advantage. Early in the second quarter, the Tornados went down the field and finished the drive with a 26-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was no good as Brevard took a 12-7 lead.

With under thirty seconds to go before the half, the Tornados scored another touchdown to extend the lead to 20-7, and would have that lead heading into the halftime break. It continued to be all Brevard in the second half as they opened the third quarter with a kickoff return for a touchdown, and the Tornados found themselves ahead 27-7.

Brevard would score again late in the fourth quarter to cap off a dominant performance. The Tornados ran for 238 yards and threw for another 136. The defense also had 9 sacks on the night.

For Greensboro, Turner finished 8-19 for 93 yards and a touchdown in his first career start. He also ran for 72 yards. Camron Torrence-Kelly led the Pride in rushing with 88 yards on 13 carries. KJ Brown and Ja'Vian Carr each had 3 catches for 43 yards.

Jadon Barnes led the team in tackles with 6 while Ziere Ray had 5. Deshawn Holman had 1 sack while Frank Walker and Cedrick Crenshaw Jr. each had a half sack.

The Pride will host LaGrange next Saturday afternoon, with kickoff set for 1:00 pm.
