Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro College Women's Soccer team (9-6-2, 4-4) locked up a conference tournament birth on Saturday as they defeated NC Wesleyan (5-9-1, 3-5-0) 2-0 at Pride Field.
Greensboro got goals from freshman
Camryn Marcondes and sophomore
Claire Friedlander to help secure their 9th in of the year. Marcondes' goal came less than 15 minutes into the game after putting the ball in the back of the net on a pass from
Shae Brennan. Marcondes' goal was the first in her collegiate career.
The Pride held that 1-0 lead into the second half, and then got a goal by Friedlander off a deflection in the 69th minute for a key insurance goal. The goal was Friedlander's third of the year.
Greensboro led in shots taken 16-11, but had an even bigger margin in shots on goal (12-4). Freshman keeper
Shyann Hansen earned the shutout and had 4 saves.
The Pride will travel to Salem on Wednesday to finish the regular season. They currently sit 5th in the conference standings, with the potential to move up to the #3 seed. See the full conference standings
