Greensboro, NC - DJ Jackson set a new career high with 26 points on Tuesday night as men's basketball defeated Mary Baldwin 67-55 inside Hanes Gymnasium.

The Pride led for most of the way in this one, as their defense was spectacular against the sharp-shooting Fighting Squirrels offense. Mary Baldwin shot just 37% from the floor and 21% from long range. 

The first half remained tight throughout, but Jackson along with help from Isaiah Pruett helped give Greensboro a 30-27 halftime advantage. With 13:23 to play in the second half, the Pride stretched their lead to 45-37, continuing to hold down the strong Mary Baldwin offense. However, the Fighting Squirrels went on a run midway through the half and eventually took a 46-45 lead with 9:00 to play.

Greensboro didn't back down, and went on a 10-2 run of their own to take a 55-48 lead. From there, the Pride defense was fantastic as they didn't allow Mary Baldwin to climb back into the game. Greensboro would eventually extend their lead with late free throws to secure a 67-55 victory over the USA South Conference leading Fighting Squirrels.

Along with his 26 points, Jackson also had 6 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. Isaiah Pruett chipped in with 12 points and 6 assists, while Ryan Roberts had 9 points, including a couple of big three point shots. 

As a team, Greensboro had 7 steals on the defensive end of the court and scored 16 points off turnovers. 

The Pride now turn their attention to Methodist as they travel to play the Monarchs on Saturday. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm.
