Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro men's basketball team hosted Sewanee on Thursday afternoon and fell 84-64 in their final non-conference game of the season.
It was a tight battle in the first half as Greensboro played solid defense to stay close with the high scoring Tigers. Midway through the first half, the game was tied 16-16 when the Tigers went on a 10-2 run to take a 26-18 advantage. A three pointer by
Aidan Eller cut the lead to 26-21, but Sewanee pulled away late in the half to lead 38-25 at the halftime break.
The Tigers would then put up 46 points in the second half while the Pride struggled to stop their strong shooting. Sewanee shot 47% from the floor and hit 6 three pointers in the second half to help them claim their 7th win of the season.
For Greensboro, they shot 50% in the second half from the floor and from behind the arc. They outscored the Tigers 40-38 in the paint but had five less three pointers than Sewanee.
Isaiah Pruett led the Pride with 16 points to go along with 9 assists and 9 rebounds.
DJ Jackson scored 14 points with 8 rebounds, while
Grant Thompson scored 11 points.Â
Greensboro will begin USA South Conference play next week when they travel to William Peace on January 7th. Tip-off is set for 5:00 pm.
