Greensboro, NC -
Azuria Barrino tied a career high with 19 points on Saturday afternoon inside Hanes Gym as the Pride fell 60-46 to Meredith in a USA South Conference battle.
Greensboro started off slow in the first quarter offensively, scoring only 8 points. They also had trouble stopping the Angels' Rylie Wade, who had 11 points and 11 rebounds on the afternoon to lead Meredith.
A 16 point second quarter lifted the offense for Greensboro, but Meredith scored 19 points in the period to take a 34-24 lead into the halftime break. The second quarter was the best shooting period for the Pride on the afternoon, as they shot 33% from the field.
Unfortunately Greensboro couldn't get much else going in the second half, but the defense picked up their efforts and held the Angels to 38% shooting in the final two quarters.
Turnovers were a weak spot for the Pride, as they totaled 23 on the day. They did collect 8 steals along with 4 blocked shots on the defensive side.Â
Taya Simpkins had herself a solid afternoon, scoring 12 points and collecting 7 rebounds. Simpkins and Barrino combined to score 31 of Greensboro's 46 points.
