Greensboro, NC - Pride men's basketball hit the road on Saturday to play USA South rival Pfeiffer University for the first time since the two teams met in the USA South semifinals last season. The Falcons were victorious in this one 65-50 despite Greensboro getting 22 points from
Isaiah Pruett.
The Pride couldn't get anything going on offense throughout the first half, shooting just 30% from the floor and 2-7 from long range. The defense kept them in it, however, as Greensboro held Pfeiffer to 36% shooting in the half.
The Pride were more efficient in half number two shooting 48%, but only scored 26 points. Pfeiffer also shot the ball better in the second half, going 13-27 (48%) from the floor.Â
Greensboro played well down low on the offensive end, totaling 32 points in the paint compared to Pfeiffer's 28. The Pride defense also had 5 steals on the game, with 4 of those coming from junior
Ryan Roberts. Perhaps the biggest advantage the Falcons had was their bench, as they scored 26 points compared to the Pride's 4 bench points.
For Greensboro,
DJ Jackson scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds. Roberts had 8 points to go along with his 4 steals, and
Grant Thompson totaled 5 rebounds.
The Pride play again on January 21st as they host defending USA South Conference champions Mary Baldwin. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
