Buena Vista, VA - Greensboro men's basketball took on USA South Conference leading Southern Virginia on Wednesday night and fell 68-55.
Isaiah Pruett led Greensboro with 21 points.
Both teams struggled from the floor in the first half, as the Pride shot 29% while SVU shot 35%. However, the Knights hit 6 of their 8 three-point shots in the first half. SVU took their first double digit lead with less than two minutes to go in half number one, and took a 33-20 lead into halftime after going on an 11-2 run.
The Pride shot the ball better in the second half, going 12-28 from the floor, but both teams traded baskets for most of the second half as the Knights maintained the lead throughout. Both teams scored 35 points in the half, and SVU took control on the boards, collecting a total of 35 rebounds for the game.
DJ Jackson scored 15 points with 8 rebounds for Greensboro, while
Grant Thompson scored 9 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The Pride were outscored 30-20 in the paint on the night, and struggled from behind the arc, shooting just 3-20.
Greensboro hits the court again on January 18th when they travel to Pfeiffer. The Pride will meet the Falcons for the first time since Greensboro's USA South Tournament Semifinals win over Pfeiffer last February. Game time is set for 2:00 pm.
