Greensboro, NC - The Greensboro volleyball team hosted a tri-match with William Peace and Mary Baldwin on Saturday, and split the two games by falling to the Pacers 3-0 and then defeating the Fighting Squirrels 3-0.
Greensboro vs William Peace:
In the first set against the Pacers, Greensboro battled but took a 25-22 loss. The Pride had 11 kills in the set but couldn't keep pace with William Peace, as they had 14 kills in set one. The Pacers controlled set two and won 25-14. The final set saw William Peace complete the sweep and win 25-21.
For the Pride,
Kelci Brooks had 7 kills while
Morgan Mayfield had 20 digs. Mayfield also had 1 service ace.
Taylor Cotie had 3 blocks and
Larkin Baxley had 2.
Greensboro vs Mary Baldwin:
The Pride got their first USA South Conference win of the season by defeating Mary Baldwin 3-0. Greensboro dominated the first set 25-13, and then won a close battle in set two, 25-23.Â
In the third set, Greensboro had little trouble and took the win 25-16.
Krista Brantley led the Pride with 12 kills, and
Karla del Castillo had 2 blocks.
Morgan Mayfield and
Camryn Lineberger had 12 digs each.
The Pride will play their next match on the road at Pfeiffer on September 25th at 7:00 pm.
