Misenheimer, NC - The Greensboro Baseball team (17-12, 6-6) split a double header with Pfeiffer (11-14, 4-8) on Saturday. Game one went the Falcons' way 9-8, while game two was won by the Pride 17-11.
Game One:
Game one was a back-and-forth affair as it came down to the last at-bat in the ninth inning. Greensboro led 2-0 after the first inning, but then the Falcons tied the game with one run each in the second and third innings. In the fourth inning,
Cooper Ferguson hit his first career home run to put Greensboro back ahead 4-2.
In the bottom of the fifth, Pfeiffer tied the game again after getting two runs. They then took a 5-4 lead in the seventh inning. In the ninth, the Pride bats busted out for four runs to take the lead 8-5. The inning included a game-tying home run by
Chris Le.Â
However in the bottom of the ninth, Pfeiffer rallied for four runs of their own to earn the walk-off victory 9-8 and secured the series win.Â
Game Two:
Game two was an offensive explosion by both teams as a combined twenty-eight runs crossed the plate. Greensboro would come away with a 17-11 win. Three Pride hitters hit home runs in the game, including
Drake Carrick,
Kai Hayen, and
Brody Gardner.Â
Greensboro totaled seventeen hits.
Chris Le had three hits,
Brody Gardner had four, and
Drake Carrick had three. Others with multi-hit games included
Myles Vacharasin and
Alex Vazquez. Vazquez also had three RBI.
Brody Gardner had a career high six RBI to go along with his home run.
Matthew Simpson got the win in relief for Greensboro. Simpson is now 3-1 this season. He went 3.0 innings and gave up just one run.
Dolan Ramsey finished the game in the ninth inning, giving up three hits and no runs.Â
Greensboro will host Guilford College on April 10th at Truist Point in High Point. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00 pm.Â
