Greensboro, NC - The bats were alive and the pitching was strong on Wednesday night as Greensboro Baseball (18-12) defeated Guilford College (12-18) by the score of 8-1.
It was also a huge night for
Chris Le and
Nick Stegura. Le tripled three times in this one, breaking the program record for triples in a game. Le went 4-5 for the game with two RBI and two runs scored. Le is hitting .371 on the season in 30 games.
Stegura was the story on the mound as he went seven innings and gave up just one hit. Stegura would walk four batters and strike out three. His seven innings tonight was his second longest outing of his career.
Greensboro started the scoring in the first inning when
Cooper Ferguson hit a sac fly to left field that scored Le. With the score tied 1-1, the Pride scored three runs in the fourth inning on a sac fly by
Alex Vazquez and a two-RBI triple by Le.
The Pride scored two more runs in the sixth inning, and then one run each in the seventh and eighth.
Alex Trepper shut the door on the Quakers with two strong innings out of the bullpen.
For Greensboro,
