Pride Pitching Dominant in Sweep Over Brevard

Greensboro, NC - It was a successful day at Barber Park for Greensboro Softball (22-12, 11-5) as they swept a double header against Brevard (6-29, 0-16) Wednesday afternoon. The two wins keep the Pride in second place in the USA South standings.

Game One:

Game one saw a great pitching performance by Lauren Engel, Courtney Maddox, and Raina Hampel. The trio combined for 7.0 innings, 3 hits, and 1 run. Engel got the start and went 3.0 innings. Maddox got the first win of her career by pitching 2.1 innings, and Hampel collected her second save of the year throwing the final 1.2 innings.

On the offensive side, Anna Frazier had a 2 hit, 2 RBI game including an RBI double. Jillian Vitamanti had 2 singles and scored 1 run. The team combined for 10 hits and 2 walks. Vitamanti and M'Kenzie Davis each had a stolen base.

Game Two:

Game two saw the Pride bats score 9 runs, run-ruling the Tornados in 6 innings. Kelsey Craven started the scoring by hitting a two-run homer in the 1st inning. This was Craven's second home run of the season. Raven Taylor then singled home a run to make it 3-0.

In the 4th, M'Kenzie Davis scored on a wild pitch to make it 4-0. In the 5th, Olivia Hyatt pinch-hit and ripped a three-RBI triple down the right field line to put the game essentially out of reach.

Makyiah Simmons finished off the game in the bottom of the 6th when she doubled to left-center field to drive in the 9th run of the contest for the Pride. Simmons finished the game with 2 hits. 

Alexis Sox had a 2 hit game, as did Jillian Vitamanti. M'Kenzie Davis went 2-2 with 2 runs scored.

Greensboro will take on William Peace on Saturday in the final series of the regular season.
