Misenheimer, NC - Greensboro Softball (20-12, 9-5) took on #12 Pfeiffer (34-1, 12-1) and lost both games of a double header on Saturday. Game one went the Falcons' way 1-0, and Pfeiffer finished off the sweep with an 8-0 win in game two.
Game one:
Game one was a nail-biter as both starting pitchers took shutouts into the fifth inning.
Lauren Engel got the start for the Pride and pitched a complete game. Pfeiffer broke through in the bottom of the fifth to take a 1-0 lead, and that's where the score would stand the rest of the game.
Greensboro came up with 3 hits on the contest to go along with 4 walks.
Ivy Ray went 2-2 with a walk, while
M'Kenzie Davis doubled and had a stolen base.
Game Two:
The Pride offense wouldn't be able to get anything going in game two either, as they were shutout for the second straight game. They were only able to get one base runner on throughout the contest.
Anna Frazier got the start in the circle for Greensboro, going 2.2 innings and giving up 5 runs.
Katherine Charlton,
Raina Hampel, and
Courtney Maddox also pitched in relief.
The Pride will host Brevard on Wednesday, April 24th at Barber Park for a double header beginning at 2:00 pm.
