Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Softball (18-10, 7-3) took both games of a double header against Salem (3-25, 0-10) on Senior Day Saturday afternoon. The Pride won game one 8-0 in five innings, and won game two 6-0.
Game One:Â
Lauren Engel took to the circle in game one and threw her seventh shutout of the season. She allowed just two hits and struck out one batter. She recorded ten flyouts and three groundouts.Â
The bats took care of the rest as they scored eight runs on ten hits. They also had three stolen bases, one each from
Raven Taylor, Engel, and
M'Kenzie Davis.Â
Greensboro scored four runs in the first inning, one in the second, and two in the third.
Alexis Sox went 2-2 with one RBI and
Makyiah Simmons also went 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
Raven Taylor stepped up big, going 2-3 with three RBI.
Game Two:
Game two saw another complete game shutout, this time by
Katherine Charlton. Charlton went seven innings and gave up nine hits while striking out six. Charlton has won the last three USA South Rookie Pitcher of the Week honors.
The Pride got three runs in the third inning, two in the fourth, and one in the sixth.
Kelsey Craven helped lead the offense with two hits and two RBI.
Alexis Sox also had two hits, and
Madison Dillner had a double, one RBI, and two runs scored.Â
Greensboro plays again on Tuesday, April 16th when they travel to Southern Virginia to take on the Knights. Game one is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
