Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Softball hosted Susquehanna University and Rhode Island College on Friday afternoon and took home two wins. They defeated Susquehanna 6-0, and later defeated Rhode Island College 13-7.
Greensboro vs Susquehanna:
Lauren Engel continued her dominant start to the 2024 season by pitching a complete game shutout. She gave up just 3 hits and had no walks. The offense provided plenty of run support, scoring six runs on ten hits.
Alexis Sox started the scoring with an RBI single in the first inning. In the third,
Anna Frazier,
Kelsey Craven, and
Makyiah Simmons drove in runs to make it 5-0. Simmons hit a two-run blast to right field for her first home run of her career. The final run came on a
Madison Dillner RBI single in the sixth inning.
Greensboro vs Rhode Island College:
The Pride offense exploded for thirteen runs in game two against Rhode Island College. Seven of those runs came in the first two innings.
Makyiah Simmons had three RBI on the game while
Alexis Sox had three hits and four RBI.
Kelsey Craven went 2-5 with two RBI.
Katherine Charlton got the start in the circle for Greensboro. She went three innings, giving up three earned runs.
Anna Frazier got the win out of the bullpen for the Pride, going three innings and giving up no runs.
The Pride will play again Sunday when they host Denison University and Huntingdon College.Â
