Ferrum, VA - The Greensboro Softball team (5-3) took on Ferrum (2-8) on Tuesday afternoon on the road. Game one went the Pride's way, 8-0, while the Panthers won the second game 4-3.
Game One:
It was all Greensboro in game one as
Lauren Engel threw a three hit shutout. Engel had 8 strikeouts and just 2 walks. She now has an 0.52 ERA in 4 starts this season. Her 8 strikeouts ties a career high in a single game.
Madison Dillner had a 3 hit game out of the leadoff spot and drove in 2 runs.
Alexis Sox went 2-4,
Kelsey Craven went 2-3, and
Rigdon Lambeth also went 2-3. The team had a total of 12 hits. Lambeth and
M'Kenzie Davis each had a stolen base.
Game Two:
Ferrum was able to rally back and win game two. They got out to a 3-0 lead in the third inning before Greensboro came back to tie the game 3-3.
M'Kenzie Davis singled home
Ivy Ray in the fourth inning, and then
Anna Frazier and
Kelsey Craven drove in runs in the fifth inning to tie the game.
The Panthers walked-off the Pride in the seventh inning on a game winning RBI single by Carsen Hogston to win their second game of the season.Â
Katherine Charlton got the start in the circle for Greensboro, going 2.2 innings before
Raina Hampel came in for her out of the bullpen. Hampel went 4.0 innings and gave up just 1 run.
