Cary, NC - The Greensboro Pride Baseball team (16-10, 5-4) took on William Peace (9-14, 5-4) for a double header on Saturday and won both games. After losing game one on Friday, the Pride won the series two games to one thanks to the two victories on Saturday.
Game One (Friday):
Game one was all Pacers, as they took down Greensboro 12-0. William Peace got a complete game shutout from Jack McIntosh. McIntosh gave up eight hits and struck out two batters.
Aaron McInvale got the start for Greensboro, going six innings and giving up three earned runs. The bright spot in the lineup for the Pride was center fielder
Chris Le. Le had three hits in the game.
Game Two:
It was a tight contest in game two, as Greensboro came out on top 4-3.
Michael Richards got the win on the mound for the Pride, and is now 5-1 on the season. Richards went six innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out five.
Stephen Dunlow picked up his fifth save of the season as he went the final three innings.
Greensboro got out to a 3-0 lead after a
Brody Gardner RBI double, and then
Hudson Powell doubled home two more runs. With the score 3-1, the Pride added to the lead on a sacrifice fly by
Gavin Fleming in the sixth inning. The Pacers got two runs in the seventh inning, but were then shutout the rest of the way by Dunlow.
Game Three:
The Pride cruised to a game three win behind an outstanding start by
Hunter Anderson. Anderson went 5.1 innings and struck out four batters. He gave up just two hits.
Dolan Ramsey and
Matthew Simpson finished the game out of the bullpen.
The offense exploded for nine runs behind a two hit, three RBI day by
Cooper Ferguson. The Pride were helped out by the Pacers defense, as they committed seven errors.
Brody Gardner went 2-5 on the game, and
Adam Weber went 1-3 with two runs scored.
Greensboro will travel to Pfeiffer University on Friday to begin a three game series with the Falcons.
