Roanoke, VA - Greensboro Baseball (14-9) took on Roanoke College (12-11) on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game and fell 6-4.
Nick Stegura got the start for the Pride on the mound and went 4.1 innings while giving up three hits and four runs. The bullpen pitched well for Greensboro in this one, going the rest of the way and giving up just two runs.
The Maroons got out to a 5-0 lead after a five run fifth inning. The Pride got one of those runs back in the sixth inning after an error scored
Cooper Ferguson.Â
With the score 6-1 in the eighth inning, Greensboro put together a comeback attempt. They would score one run in the eighth and then two runs in the ninth. The Pride had runners on first and second base with two outs in the ninth, but a groundout ended the comeback effort.
Second baseman
Cooper Ferguson had a three hit day including two doubles.
Hudson Powell also had three hits on the contest.
Brody Gardner went 2-5.
Greensboro travels to William Peace for a three game series this weekend. Game one is on Friday, while games two and three are scheduled for Saturday afternoon.Â
