High Point, NC - It was a beautiful day at Truist Point in High Point, NC on Sunday afternoon as the Greensboro Baseball team (14-8, 3-3) split a double header with Methodist (12-10, 4-2).
Game One:
The Pride came from behind to walk-off the Monarchs in game one by the score of 7-6. Greensboro starting pitcher
Michael Richards threw a solid 6.1 innings, while
Hunter Anderson dominated in 3.2 innings out of the bullpen to get the win. Anderson didn't give up a single hit in his scoreless outing.
Down 5-2 in the sixth inning, the Pride scored two runs in the bottom half of the inning thanks to a two-run homer by
Drake Carrick off the right field foul pole. It was his second homerun of the season. Greensboro then tied the game in the bottom of the seventh after the Monarchs added a run in the top of the frame.
Adam Weber doubled home
Chris Le and then
Brody Gardner hit a two out RBI single to tie the game.
In the bottom of the tenth inning,
Adam Weber would score on a passed ball to walk it off for the Pride. Weber finished the game 3-5 with three runs scored.
Chris Le went 2-4 out of the leadoff spot, while
Kai Hayen went 2-3 with two walks.
Game Two:
Methodist got the bats going in the second game and shut down the powerful Greensboro offense to win 11-2. The Monarchs got out to a 6-0 lead after three innings, and then went up 9-1 after the fourth.
Chris Le was the star in this one for the Pride as he went 4-4 with a walk and two doubles.
Evan Sykes went 2-4 with an RBI while
Michael Schroer also added a sacrifice fly RBI.
Greensboro will travel to Roanoke College this Wednesday for a 4:00 pm match-up with the Maroons.Â
