Montgomery, AL - It was a successful road trip for Greensboro Men's Lacrosse (5-4, 1-1) on Friday afternoon as they defeated USA South Conference foe Huntingdon (3-7, 1-1) by the score of 14-8.
The Hawks scored the first two goals of the contest early on in the first quarter. The Pride came right back with goals by
Jameson Doll and
Chas Gilroy to tie the game 2-2.
Down 3-2, Greensboro tied the game on a goal by
Justin Barry, and then scored three more goals to take a 6-3 advantage. After the Hawks made it 6-4, the Pride went on a 5-0 run to stretch the lead to 11-4.
From there both teams swapped goals as the Pride were able to stave off any comeback attempt by Huntingdon. Barry, Doll, and
Leo Ringelberg scored three goals each, while
Nate Bladen scored twice and Gilroy,
Alex Mattoon, and
Jack Sheridan all scored one goal each.
Edward Rowley got the win in goal and had nine saves. Three different Pride goalies combined for 13 saves on the day. Greensboro won the ground ball battle 43-33, while scoring on three extra man opportunities.
The Pride will travel to Southern Virginia on March 26th for their third conference game of the season. Game time is set for 5:00 pm.
